FAQ

When is registration?
Registration for the Spring Season typically runs through March.  Registration for Fall Ball typically runs through August.  Please visit our website for specific registration dates.

What if we missed registration?
If you missed registration, there is a late registration process.  Late registrations are accepted and added to a wait list.  Late registrants are only added on an "as needed" basis.  Please make every attmept to sign up in person or online during the designated registration period.

When are games scheduled?
Practices for the Spring season typically run though April.  The Spring Season typically kicks off in early May and runs through June.  The Fall Ball season runs from September through October.

What is included with my registration?
Player will receive a team jersey and hat.

What is the refund policy?
BYC Little League only offers a refund if the league is advised before the first practice.

Why does BYCLL do background checks on all volunteers?
In order to protect the safety of our children we process all volunteers using a thorough background check.

Why can't players take warm-up swings outside of the dugout?
Over the years Little League has found that the likelihood for injuries to players is greatly reduced if players stay in the dugout.

Why can't coaches warm-up pitchers?
Little League’s position is that adults are here to teach the children and as such should have children warm-up pitchers. Rosters are not limited to nine players and therefore should have additional players to warm-up a pitcher. This is a Little League International mandate for safety and liability for which BYCLL will strictly enforce.

When are Tryouts?
Tryouts are also referred to as Player Evaluations, since every child that wants to participate in Little League is allowed to play. Player Evaluations for Bantams, Minors and Majors are typically held in early March just after the registration period has ended.

What are Player Evaluations?
A Player Evaluation is a method for measuring the skill of a player. This allows each manager to assess each player’s potential and make an informed decision as he assembles his team during the draft process. Our player evaluation will be held in conjunction with our final indoor clinic on March 11,2017 at the Broadalbin - Perth High School.

What is the "Draft"?
The draft process is a method in which the managers select their teams. There are specific rules mandated by Little League International that we must follow as part of our charter. During a division draft, each manager is given a list of eligible players from which to select.

What if I, as a parent, want my player on a specific team?
At the Minors and Majors level, no requests are taken. All players are drafted.

Do I have to sell raffle tickets?
Players are asked to participate in the BYCLL Fundraiser by selling their 10 raffle tickets. This is the only fundraiser BYCLL will ask you to support during the Spring Season. Great prizes go to the winning ticket holders as well as the player selling the most tickets!
